Taironaka Eco-Tourism and Archaeology
Taironaka, located in the ancient ruins of a Tayrona city, is an ideal site for hiking and observing fauna and flora. This place offers access to the Don Diego Santa Marta River, providing an experience in contact with nature and history.
Taironaka in Don Diego preserves archaeological vestiges, such as housing rings and retaining walls, which reflect the rich archaeology in Santa Marta.
At the Taironaka Archaeological Park, visitors can also explore a traditional indigenous house, temporarily inhabited by the Koguis, allowing an immersion in the Tayrona culture.

How to get there by transport PUBLIC
- Departure Location: Public Market of Santa Marta, COOTRANSORIENTE office.
- Bus Frequency to Palomino: Every 20 minutes.
- Instruction to the Driver: Stop at the Don Diego river.
- From the Don Diego River: Walk one kilometer following the signs to the wooden gate that says Taironaka.
- Alternative Option: Possibility of hiring a boat at an additional cost.
How to get there by transport PRIVATE
- Route: Take the Troncal del Caribe to kilometer 56+600.
- Direction: Turn right before crossing the Don Diego river.
- Access: Continue along the road to Taironaka's parking area.
- Parking: Leave the vehicle in the parking area and follow the path to Taironaka.
- Boat Option: Possibility of hiring a boat at an additional cost.
